Counter Strike is a game for which I have some mixed feelings because from the moment I start to play it there’s a constant flow of adrenaline and I can’t make myself stop playing. In the same way, I always get angry for not being as good as other players!
Ok, let’s go to the game. Counter Strike is a modification by two fans of the acclaimed Half-Life. As the specialist calls it, it’s a tactical first-person shooter video game, where you can choose two sides: terrorists and Counter terrorist. In addition, you can play in four modes: rescue/hold hostages, bomb target/defuse bomb, escape from/guard an area, and assassinate/guard a VIP. These might not be one of the most original aspects of the game, but have been well implemented. A problem I have faced as a player is that teams are capable to buy better weapons and gear as they win, so if a team has a winning streak it will have stronger firepower than the other, and therefore will be in a clear and unfair advantageous position.
One of the things I like the most about CS is the ability to choose weapons, according to your “financial status” during the game. The player’s range of option start at grenades, pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, assault rifles, and finishes in sniper rifles. Being good at each of them, is not so easy at least for me! So what I recommend to players is to stick to one you feel comfortable and go on with it.
To sum up I’d say that despite some minor shortcomings, the game is simply great and terribly addictive. I recommend this game to all, even though, after a while, they will beat me on a game.
